A longer shape, for a party that wants to leave the west. I suggest the road to Trongsa and Bumthang only when the dates can hold it.
The days
Days 1 to 3. The west
Paro, Thimphu, and the crossing at Dochula. The first nights are a five-star valley lodge in Motithang, then a restored farmhouse lodge in Punakha.
Day 4. East toward Trongsa
A long road day. We leave Punakha in the morning and sleep in a valley lodge at Trongsa.
Day 5. Trongsa to Bumthang
The morning at Trongsa Dzong. Then the road east into Bumthang. The night is a valley lodge in the Choekhor valley.
Day 6. Bumthang
Jambay Lhakhang and Kurjey Lhakhang. The afternoon is left open.
Day 7. The same valley
Tamshing in the morning. You return to the same lodge. No new town.
Day 8. Return west
The drive back toward Punakha. The night is a restored farmhouse lodge in the valley.
Day 9. Paro
Across Dochula if the pass is open, then a private transfer to Paro airport.
The government fee
I do not publish a price for this route. The proposal carries the figure for your party. For US dollar paying visitors, until 31 August 2027, the Sustainable Development Fee is USD 100 per person per night. Children who have not yet turned six are exempt. Children aged 6 who have not yet turned 12 receive a 50 percent concession.
